Yanjia (Jenny) Huang is CASL‘s Managing Attorney. She joined CASL as the Staff Attorney for Legal Services in early 2022, providing direct legal services for low-to-mid-income clients in Illinois in the areas of family law, estate planning, immigration, landlord and tenant disputes, etc. A key distinctive feature of CASL Legal Services is the ability to provide linguistically and culturally competent services directly to Chinese Americans and Chinese immigrants. With her bilingual ability and ethnic Chinese heritage, Jenny can provide professional and compassionate service to CASL clients with limited English proficiency seeking legal help.
Jenny holds a Doctor and Master of Law from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a Bachelor of Law from Beijing Technology and Business University. She is licensed by the Illinois Bar and is fluent in Mandarin and English. Before joining CASL Legal Services, Jenny was a full-time lecturer at a business school in China for five years, where she taught Contract and Business Law, Public Relations, and Business English. Meanwhile, she worked in a law firm for two years, gaining practical litigation experience. With prior experience in teaching and legal practice, Jenny is passionate about working in CASL to provide direct legal services to low-income IL residents, especially the Chinese-speaking community, and making bilingual legal information accessible to the Chinese community about their legal rights and resources in IL family law, employment, estate planning, immigration, housing, and other areas of high need.
In her free time, Jenny enjoys playing badminton and traveling with family and friends. Playing badminton keeps her fit, active, and productive.
